Train your cat effectively
One of the most important things that you need to do is train your cat well. Many people thing that cats are not very good receptors of training but that is a misconception.
Given below is a list of things that you need to teach your cat:
1. Teach you cat how to respond to its name. it is one of the most important things that your cat needs to learn. Keep calling your cat by its name and after some time it will respond to you.
2. Another thing that you need to teach your cat is that scratching everything under the sun is not a good habit. However, before teaching your cat, you must buy a scratcher for it. Then teach the cat that the scratcher is for it and it can play with it as long as it wishes to. But make your pet understand that the couch or the sound system is not for it.
3. Even you as an owner have to understand certain things about cat behavior. Do not blame your cat for being ill mannered if it arbitrarily scratches things because it is a natural instinct for them. Give it a toy which it can use.
4. Another thing that most pets love to do is chew. It is yet another natural behavior on the part of cats and it helps them to exercise their gum muscles and keep their teeth healthy. Buy toys that your cat can chew and train it so that it chews up the toys meant for him or her and not your new shoes!
5. One thing that you should never do is hit your pet, be it a cat or a dog or a rabbit. If there is something that you do not approve of and you do not want your cat to do, just say no. make your cat understand what no means by clapping your hands. The tone of the voice and the action is something that the cat can understand.
6. Many people opt for water sprayers to make their cats refrain from something. That is also a great way to teach your cat the meaning of "no". However, there may be a cat or two who like being sprayed with water! For them, the clap and the harsh voice is sure to work.
