The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in Wai Chai North, Hong Kong Island, overlooking the famous Victoria Harbour and the Tsim Sha Tsui. The impressive glass and chrome fa ade stuns visitors with its sheer size and brilliance. The convention centre is built to mimic a bird about to take flight, and the wall that faces the harbour is the largest glass wall in the world!

In figures, the convention centre comprises of 5 main exhibition halls, spanning a floor space of 46,600 square meters. Apart from these 5 exhibition halls, the remaining space is also divided into 2 convention halls, 2 theatre and, 52 meeting rooms. There are also 7 restaurants catering to the exhibitors and guests within. To give an estimate of the size, the centre can hold around 140,000 people at any given point of time.

The two buildings that currently make up the centre were built in two different phases: the first one in 1988, on land just off Gloucester Road, and the second building was built on an artificial island. The two are connected through an atrium link, which is currently under reconstruction.

There are plenty of events earmarked for the rest of the month; trade conferences like Christie's Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2008, TETRA World Congress 2008, VINEXPO Asia Pacific 2008, and many more besides. Of the other kind, there is the 51st Summer Wedding Expo and the HK Makeup Fiesta incorporating 9th Beauty and Fitness Expo 2008.

Within easy reach is Hong Kong's subway system, the MTR - Mass Transit Railway. The airport is accessible without much hassle through bus services that operate between the city and the airport. Apart from which, the convention centre can be reached using the ferries and city buses, allowing for a scenic path to the centre. Situated in the very heart of the bustling city, accommodation is not a hassle at all, housing people who require all kinds of options, from low budget to luxury.

The centre functions as one of two main convention centers in Hong Kong, the other being AsiaWorld-Expo. It has won numerous awards commemorating its excellence in the field. One interesting fact about the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is that it hosted the handover of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China, by the United Kingdom, thereby gaining historical relevance since 1997.
