4 Must Have Cat Training TipsMichael Moyssidis ![]() If you recently aquired a new cat or have had one or more for a while here I will reveal four must have cat training tips to get you started. Firstly though the key to effective training is consistency. Whatever you choose, be sure to do it on a regular basis, otherwise, you'll be sending your cat mixed signals which will only make the training harder than it has to be. Tip number one. Cats aren't dogs. If you have owned a dog you will know that punishing them will change their behavior. It is waste of time to punish a cat because they don't care. You can punish them all you want and they will sit there purring and repeat the same behavior again. Tip number two. If you want a better behaved cat, try using a form of positive reinforcement. It is better to reward your cat when they are performing a right behavior by offering a cat treat to them. Give them a treat when you see them doing something positive like using their scratching post or litter box. Tip number three. Cats get bored. This often is the cause of bad behavior in cats. One solution is to have toys around the house. These can be store bought toys or even some makeshift ones, it doesn't matter as long as they will keep your cat occupied, not tearing down curtains and jumping all over bench tops and walls. As long as you provide some alternatives they will reward you for it. Tip number four. A spray bottle of water can be a valuable item. In some cases to stop bad behavior in your cat, a spray with a harmless water bottle could do the trick. Whenever you see your cat misbehaving, give them a short squirt of water from a water bottle. Soon they will realize that they are not allowed to do that, and hopefully not repeat their action. These ideas are only a few tips when you're training your cat. As you and your pet begin to know each better, you'll discover a language of your own. It may be through speech, you talk and she meows. But more than likely, the two of you will eventually be able to read each other's body language. You'll soon learn the subtle nuances of this very effective form of communication, teaching your cat what she needs to know will be easier than you can ever imagine. Michael Moyssidis has been a caring and devoted cat owner for many years. For more cat training tips, check out: http://catcareinfosite.com/10-must-have-cat-training-tips.html
