It is always important for your dog to be clean not just because they smell better after every bath. Your dog's health could also be improved with proper, regular grooming. There are proper and improper ways to groom one's dog. Some experts say that it's healthy for certain breeds to take regular baths. For other breeds, experts and other Dog lovers say that baths need not be that regular. Thus, it is also a good idea to have breed-specific dog grooming ideas or techniques. With that said, here are some tips for grooming one of the most popular dog breeds: the Golden Retriever.
The Golden Retriever's Characteristics:
This breed is classified as a heavy shedder. The outer side of its coat composed of thick, soft fur is almost waterproof. The dog's inner undercoat on the other hand is very dense. On average a golden's fur is long and silky smooth. This is because the breed was originally bread for retrieving water fowl from lakes and marshes. Golden retrievers love getting wet and you probably won't have a hard time giving them baths.

-Comb and brush your dog with a bristle brush. Do this at least two times a week. In order to help lessen shedding, the dog's dense undercoat should be brushed using an undercoat rake. Some very large matting in your dog's fur might have to be removed by professionals
-Golden retrievers can be bathed often without any skin or coat problems because of its water spaniel heritage. Use only a good dog shampoo for your golden. Consult your vet about which shampoo to use.
-Foot problems can be avoided by clipping your golden retriever's nails regularly. Dog nail clippers should be used. Just cut the tips and so that the nails won't bleed.
-Use grooming shears to trim the fur on your dog's feet. Trimming the overgrown hair around his foot pads is also a good idea.
-Do not forget to trim your dog's tail hair. Remember that it should look like a fan. You can achieve this by begin trimming from at the tip of his tail towards the base.
-Your golden retriever's ear hair should also be shortened inside and outside along the edges. You should also use a safe ear cleansing product two times a month. Use droppers to apply the solution inside the ear holes. Then rub the ears carefully in order to distribute the solution.
