Motor Show To Host Biggest Exhibition of Green CarsKaren Gaylard ![]() One of the largest exhibitions of zero-emissions vehicles in the UK is set to take place at the British International Motor Show. Vehicles that will be featured in the Electric Vehicle Village include the G-Wiz, models from the new brand Quiet Cars and the Tesla Roadster, a two-seat electric sports car. The exhibition will also have demonstrations of the Elektrobay on-street recharging station, which is made by Elektromotive. Car insurance customers could be interested to learn that electric vehicles are around 70 per cent greener than the equivalent fossil-fuelled car. Kirsty Perkinson, motor show marketing director, said: "The aim of the feature is to highlight the significant advances made in developing zero-emissions vehicles and to reflect the mushrooming demand for these cars. Vehicle manufacturers are pushing the engineering boundaries to produce cleaner and greener forms of transport." She added that consumers "are responding positively" to the new technology, "particularly in London ". Ms Perkinson said that she wanted the show to reflect the wide range of electric vehicles on sale now as well as "those which will be launched in the near future" and help consumers who are deciding which car to buy as choosing a new car can be "a confusing and difficult process". The British International Motor Show will run from July 23rd until August 3rd and is expected to attract around 550,000 visitors. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that it would be starting mass production of lithium-ion batteries for low-emission vehicles with the aim of selling electric cars worldwide by 2012.
