Gettting a New Cat?Kathy Katz ![]() http://kittyandcatcare.com One giant aspect of cat training is the part where the idea of a new cat comes to mind. Some cats out there can be quite protective when it comes to their stuff. And if you are reading this article I know you have come in search of advice when getting a new cat. My friends and I agree that a gradual introduction of your new furry friend would be the best; just try it. Allow your new cat to acclimate to its new surroundings before you do this, you don't want to put your cat through complete shock. To be absolutely sure things don't go wrong, make sure to supervise any contact that your new cat has with your pre-existing cats, to ensure there are no misbehaving. Your cat may take up to several weeks to adjust to your new cat, and be ready to jump into any catfights during this adjusting period. And for some people, some cats just never get along, not to scare any of you out of trying and getting a new cat. On the other hand, having two cats can be one of the most fulfilling experiences. They eat, sleep, cuddle, and bath each other; it's actually quite exciting. Some claim that when getting a new cat get one of the same gender, because they tend to get along together. Some of my friends also claim that it's a headache to get a new cat, and some say that it was one of the best decisions they've made regarding their cat. In the end, no matter what the outcome, always remember that your older cat was there first.
