Your Handy Guide To Refilling Inkjet Cartridges

You don't have to be a mastermind to figure out how refilling inkjet cartridges work. At the most it will take a little practice to perfect the process, but you should easily have a successful refill on your first attempt provided you follow the handbook that came with the printer refill kit.
You will find that there are various printer refill kits out there, however the process of refilling inkjet cartridges remains practically the same. Below are the basic guidelines to successfully refill your inkjet cartridge, hassle free:
1. Before you unpack your inkjet printer refill, it's a good idea to prepare your workspace first. Spread out newspaper on your workspace to catch any ink and keep some kitchen paper towels nearby to mop up any mess.
2. Unpack the printer refill kit and lay out all the components onto your workspace, then proceed by attaching the needle onto the syringe, ensuring that it's securely fastened. Remember to use separate needles for each refill if you are using a color refill kit.
3. Now, before you open the bottle of ink you should put on the pair of latex gloves that came with the printer refill kit. Refilling inkjet cartridges can get a little messy if it's your first time. They might feel a little uncomfortable to wear, but you'll avoid getting ink on your hands which can be a bit of a nightmare to get off.
4. Open up the ink refill and begin to draw out ink into the syringe until it's at full capacity. There's no need to rush, so do this slowly to avoid any mess.
5. Rather than do the actual refilling at your workspace, it's recommended that you do it at a sink. This way you can wash away any ink immediately before it dries and stains. Before your refill the cartridge, make sure it's clean. Hold it upright ready to transfer the ink.
6. Holding the syringe in the other hand, place the needle into the opening of the cartridge and slowly inkjet the ink into the chamber. You might hear air rushing out, don't worry, this is normal. When you see the ink and air bubbles appear at the top of the chamber, stop.
7. This next step might not apply to you, but for certain types or inkjet printer refills you'll have to seal the hole in the cartridge once you're done refilling. For most cartridges you will not have to do this. Always check your manual to see if this required.
8. Your manual is your bible, so follow it carefully even if you consider yourself a pro at refilling inkjet cartridges. In some kits you may get asked to enlarge the cartridge hole or pump out all the air from the cartridge. These little differences need to be picked up on.
9. Check for any leaks or cracks on your cartridge and give it a wipe if need be. If all is well you're ready to go. Insert the cartridge into your printer and you can start printing.
10. If you find that you have some unused ink in your syringe, simply put it back into the bottle. Give your workplace or sink a quick clean, removing any ink and you're done.
By following these simple steps, refilling inkjet cartridges will be a breeze. Not only that, but you'll also save yourself up to 80% in printing costs. Not bad for 5 minutes work!
