When its difficult to communicate verbally, the concept of graphic design can greatly improve your results. Graphic Design can be defined as “the art or profession of visual communication that combines images, words and ideas to convey information to the audience". In other words, the visual way of communicating through posters, letters, business logo, computer print outs, album covers, etc, is known as ‘graphic design’. There are various fields and media in which graphic design is practiced. These fields include all sections of print media, motion pictures, World Wide Web, branding, book & magazine designs, advertising etc. Elements of Graphic Design: 1) The layout and design of the graphic design should be kept simple and clean. 2) Colours should be used from own set of corporate colours. 3) Aim to use 2 to 3 colours. This means one should use only 2-3 colours in one design. 4) Always use consistent fonts for the body, heading and subheadings. 5) Use contrast colours for background and font for example if the font is light coloured then dark coloured background should be used. For a perfect graphic design, always consider these elements of graphic designing. There are various points that should be kept in mind before designing a graphic: 1) Requirements: Always consider it a priority to know what the client is looking to achieve. In order to provide clients with the best of the design, research the clients’ requirements and expectations to the fullest before starting to work on the project. 2) Positioning of Graphic Design: To make sure that you make a successful graphic design, you should understand what medium or field your designs will be used. You should prepare your graphic design according to the medium of usage. For example, presentations, in print, online, billboard, etc. 3) Customer Knowledge: Before designing a graphic, you should know which group of customers you are targetting. If you design a brochure for a restaurant it will be very different to a heath clinic brochure. Whatever the business you must established your target market. So, for an effective graphic design, try to know the targeted customers of the business. Today, in such a competitive world, almost every business needs graphic design to some degree. First of all, companies, as initially need a logo and website for their business. The graphic design of a websites is critical in the user experience. It is often seen that children learn faster with pictures and illustrations than text. This learning process continues into our adult years. Educational animation holds a good position over static data as they do not attact or hold the interest of your target market. Career in Graphic Designing: Graphic designers carry responsibilities of their clients success. A good graphic designer should provide creative solutions for communication. Basically, the job of a graphic designer is to communicate ideas and thoughts quickly and efficiently. Some of the techniques used in graphic design are colour combinations, photography, illustrations, print, print layouts, etc. Some of the projects undertaken by graphic designers are: 1) Creation of layout & production designs for magazines, newspapers, corporate reports, publications, journals, etc. 2) Development of promotional displays, packaging & marketing brochures for products and services & design logos for business. 3) Preparation of signs for business and government. 4) Producing material for internet web pages, interactive media & multimedia projects.
