Who'd have thought that having an inkjet printer could be such a burden on the wallet? You might have guessed that manufacturers don't make their money from selling printers, but from selling supplies, such as ink. Manufacturing print supplies is big business and it's easy to see why. Inkjet cartridges are costly and there are only a few alternatives to paying for overpriced ink. Refilling inkjet cartridges is by far the cheapest and best alternative and it's proving to be a real contender in the market.

Some might say that using inkjet printer refills is a real no-brainer since they're a huge money saver. In most cases you can expect to save between 70 to 80% on your printing costs. If you consider that inkjet cartridges can cost over $100 per cartridge, it's hardly small change. Alternatively, you can buy compatibles or remanufactured cartridges. These will save you money, but not as much.

Printer refill kits are simply the cheapest alternative hands down. The only drawback is that you will be the one refilling inkjet cartridges. Having said that, it really takes no time at all and it's easy to do. On the other hand, if you'd rather leave it to a professional, you can take your empty cartridges to a print refill shop and pay someone to do it for you.

Other than being substantially cheaper than buying brand new inkjet cartridges, what other benefits are there refilling inkjet cartridges? Well, for one you'd be doing the environment a big favor. By refilling inkjet cartridges, you're essentially recycling. This means less waste and a reduction of resources used to make cartridges.

The more people use inkjet printer refills the less petroleum and metals will be taken from the Earth's natural resources to manufacture inkjet cartridges. As well as taking up valuable natural resources, each un-reused cartridge gets tossed away, adding to the ever growing landfills.

Rarely will anyone experience problems with inkjet printer refills, but nonetheless it's a good idea to bear the following minor flaws in mind.

If you fail to refill an inkjet cartridge properly you may experience problems in printing. This is unlikely since the process of refilling inkjet cartridges is relatively simple. Unless you decide to do it blindfolded and you overfill the cartridge then ink may leak into your printer causing print failure. In the worse case scenario your printer warranty may be voided.

Make sure when refilling inkjet cartridges that you're using a quality manufacturer who manufacturers ink for individual printer brands and models. This will ensure that you get the best print quality. Use inkjet printer refills designed to be compatible with a particular brand rather than so-called universal' printer refill kits.

Take your time when refilling inkjet cartridges to get the job done properly. After a few refills you will get the hang of it. If you still can't get the hang of it, you can try a professional refill service. However, be warned that not all refill stores stock the ink you require.

If you can put up with getting a little messy and you don't mind spending ten minutes or so refilling inkjet cartridges then you'd be silly not to try printer refill kits. Sure it's convenient to buy brand new cartridges, but if you want to save money on your printing, there's no better way than by using inkjet printer refills.
