All about Folding Beds

Generally, we live in a house having limited space. When a guest visits you to stay for a couple of days, it becomes a problem to provide your guest with a comfortable bed to sleep.
In such a case, a folding guest bed would help you to tide over such an embarrassing situation. Having a folding bed will help you, if you do not have space for an extra guest bedroom or even for an extra bed, and you have guests quite frequently. Also it would help you to provide a bed to someone who needs a bed for a night only.
These folding beds are quite handy because, after folding, these beds could be stored in a cupboard, garage or even in the attic. You just take them out just when it is required for use. Therefore, you are assured of having an extra bed whenever you need but it is not occupying an extra valuable space which you do not have or you cannot afford to spare.
Buying an extra bed might be a problematic proposition for you, because these beds do not come cheap. You will have to spend lots money to buy a good, comfortable bed. Also, if the bed is not going to be used frequently, it might be a waste of your money and the precious space it occupies. In such a case, buying a folding guest bed could be a good solution as these beds do not cost much but still they would provide you with an extra bed whenever required by you.
Another plus point of a folding bed is its easy transportability.
Even you may carry with you while you are staying with someone who does not have extra bed to provide or while camping outdoors.
Another use of these folding beds could be when you are moving to a new home. It might be that you do not have beds at the new place either you did not have enough time or you do not have enough money to buy beds. Till you purchase your beds, you can manage with these folding beds in the mean time.
These folding beds use a central pivot point to allow the bed to be folded inwards or outwards. Generally, these folding beds are provided with extendable legs to enable you to lift it from the ground while folding it. These folding beds are becoming more popular in the last ten years, because more and more people are living in houses with limited space. Because of this increasing popularity, these folding beds are coming with spring or foam mattress making it more comfortable to sleep on.
Folding Beds comes in different categories to suit different requirements. They could be complete folding beds, cots, kid's beds, fold out beds or commercial grade folding beds. These beds might come with folding foam mattress or bed mattresses.
Before we finish off, you may like to know when this idea of using folding beds came first. It was an African American woman Sarah Goode who got an U.S. Patent for making a cabinet bed in July 14, 1885. She was an owner of a furniture store in Chicago. Incidentally, she was the first African American woman to receive a U. S. patent.
