Using Silver TarpsBob Page ![]() Tarps-togo Silver poly tarps are designed with an extra-heavy U.V. protection coating so that more sunlight is reflected back into the atmosphere, keeping the covered surface cooler and less exposed to the effects of U.V. radiation. Waterproof silver poly tarps are used for applications such as roofing, landscaping, wood stock coverage, boat coverings, trailer and RV covers, and any other applications which are in need of protection from constant outdoor exposure to sun, wind, and weathering. High quality silver poly tarps have many outstanding distinguishing features that make them capable of the highest levels of protection. Their qualities include eyelets that are manufactured at every one and half feet instead of the one yard intervals for the economy tarpaulin. They have coating up to forty microns ultra violet light coated producing a 100% waterproof reflective product, frost resistant and resists tears. In spite of their high strength, however, these quality silver poly tarps also maintain Arctic flexibility. Their reflective silver treatment will be on both sides of the tarp as well. There are many features of high quality silver tarpaulins as well, and the cleaver consumer should look for them. These have a tough, high density polyethylene weave made up of 14 strands of vertical as well as 14 strands of horizontal mesh per square inch. They will have an additional UVI treated bottom coating. At their corners they'll have heavy duty molded plastic reinforced corners, and their grommets will be treated to be rust-free. These also have double-stitched or heat sealed hems and poly roping in the hem all around. Top quality silver poly tarps also weigh in at 6.0 oz. per square yard. and have a tensile strength of 1200 Denier. High quality silver poly tarpaulins are sold that are up to 1600 denier and as much as 12 mil thick. This is an important factor when comparing against a standard tarpaulin for example blue, which is normally just 4.5 oz. per square foot these tarps have amazing tensile strength. Denier is a unit of measure regarding the linear mass density of fibers. The definition of the Denier is the mass in grams per 9000 meters (so 1 denier = 1 gram per 9000 meters). Typically you want a higher denier count, as this typically means greater tensile strength and higher quality. The mil is a unit of length equal to one thousandth of an inch (0.0255 mill)is often used in specifying the circumference of the wire or the thickness of the tarp sheet. Silver poly tarps are the coolest and most light reflective of all poly tarps. This is because the weave within the coated area is made from a dense black poly material, plus the fact that the silver color is very reflective. There is no UV radiation at all that is permitted to pass through the outer coating of a silver poly tarp, unlike white, green, yellow, and the lighter colors of poly tarp. -------- Author Bob Page has worked in the poly tarps industry for over twenty five years and during that time has built up a wealth of knowledge of the tarpaulin industry.Bob can contacted at Tarps-ToGo tel :239 919 2923 email bob@tarps-togo.com or vsit the web site at http://www.tarps-togo.com
