One of the most important things to clean in your car is obviously the dashboard. Especially for someone who values his car as an extension of his own self, getting your dashboard clean is one of the best ways to reflect your personal habits as well as your maturity.

If you haven't cleaned your dashboard before, it's actually very easy. This is true no matter what kind of dashboard you have, be it a custom car dashboard or one for a tractor or a motorcycle. It's also important to note the items that you usually see on dashboards before taking the effort to actually fix one.

One of the first items that you see on any dashboard would be the steering wheel. And with the steering wheel people also see the instrument cluster. These are two of the most important parts of your vehicle because the steering wheel directs your vehicle to its proper course while the instrument cluster contains the very useful gauges like the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge and other indicators like gear shift position, seat belt warning light and engine malfunction light. In modern vehicles, navigation equipment is also available on the dashboard.

Audio equipment is also frequently mounted on dashboards. Before there was a radio there was a monophonic phonograph for Chrysler cars. What followed would be a series of technological developments from the cassette tape to the eight-track tape players, to graphic equalizers and controls for sound modifications and finally CDs.

The top of the dashboard may contain speakers for the audio system and vents for the heating and air conditioning. You can also find a glovebox on the passenger's side (or sometimes on both sides). It's important to know the exact contents of most dashboards if you want a clear picture of how to clean it.
