Online Information 2008 is projected as an 'event where content and technology meet'. Six important categories will be explored in detail at this event for techies, consumers, and businesses. These include online content resources, ePublishing, library management systems, content management expo, Web 2.0 technologies and search solutions.

Running from the 2nd to the 4th of December at the Olympia Grand Hall in London, the exhibition will include a conference and numerous free seminars. Considered an integral part of the information industry, the event will be attended by information professionals, librarians, researchers, knowledge directors, publishers and more.

As part of the event, the largest international information industry conference in the world is hosted here. Last year's conference was attended by 900 delegates coming from more than 43 countries. It is an active forum that encourages learning, debate and professional development and showcases technology reviews and assessments. Expert advice will also be offered. Case-study presentations and research results and opinions are expected to be shared with attendees. Three workshops were conducted in 2007 and similar ones are expected for 2008.

This year's conference will explore information on enterprise 2.0 and examine the impact of web 2.0 in organisations. It will also examine behaviours for improved service delivery and the management of information logistics and dynamics as well as digital rights management. A closer look at search engines and information structuring will be made along with developments in library and publishing, and a discussion will take place on how to survive in the digital age.

The free seminars are equally popular with attendees of the event. Keynote presentations are expected from executives at companies like Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Microsoft and Elsevier. The online information seminars will discuss information skills masterclasses and career development. A seminar on business information and one on STM Information will also be conducted. ePublishing Solutions and discussions on the challenges faced by academic and corporate libraries will be heard along with seminars on content in context, and association forums. Seminars on information management will cover topics like content and information management as well as enterprise search solutions and Web 2.0. There will also be special demonstrations at the Microsoft SharePoint Pavilion.

This event puts exhibitors in touch with consumers and those with a vested interest in online information and its management. It provides an excellent opportunity to generate new business and increase brand awareness, while networking with industry peers. New products can be launched directly to a target audience, and organizations will find it convenient to hold meetings with international clients, key IT journalists and stakeholders.
