Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service is a critical part of a Microsoft Exchange Server deployment. This includes mailboxes and public folders and the functioning of Exchange Server is simply impossible without this. This acts as the core data house for the Exchange Server.

Errors, in general terms, refer to the difference between the actual behavior of any system and expectations for the real behavior of it. The same case is observed in the Exchange Server when we start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. At this point of time, you may encounter the following error message:

"The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service returned service specific error 4294966090."

The application and system log may show the corresponding events:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 1120
Description:
Error Non-database file or corrupted database initializing the Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store database.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 5000
Description:
Unable to initialize the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. Error Non-database file or corrupted database.

As can be seen through the description of the error messages, the database has got corrupted; this is the reason why this specific error is being displayed. Another reason could be the wrong DB Path' value in the registry for the private or public information store. This path may not be complete.

For resolving the issue of wrong registry key value, you need to locate the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersPrivate

And

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersPublic
And specify the complete DB Path'.

However if this is related to the database corruption problem then for this EDB recovery is required. Also the incorrect dealing with the registry keys can result into more corruption related problems. So the perfect scanning of the corrupted file, which can result into Exchange Server recovery, is mandatory.

This task can be accomplished through the Exchange recovery software which make use of the best algorithms for this. These Exchange recovery tools usually come tailored with the interactive user interface and thus make the work of the user quite simpler to do.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is considered as the key software ending this task. The software is applicable in each case which requires EDB recovery.

This Exchange Recovery software scans the corrupted MS Exchange database and extracts the mailboxes. After this, the entire files will get stored in the form of PST file format and can be directly used with MS Outlook. This Exchange Server recovery tool can be used for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000 and 2003.
