Many webmasters use articles in this way to add content to their blog, e-zine or newsletter resulting in promoting your website in the author resource of the article. Also if a person has stumbled upon your article lets say in a search engine and find it interesting they may add it to their website. There is endless options that can form the time it took for you to write a good article.
Social networking sites: These sites are always being index by the search engines because they are always updating from the users that use them. What you put into it, you will get back 10 times full. But do not spam.
Publish a video on utube. Find something in your niche in your market that your familiar with and make a video. You'll be surprised in how many people are looking at adding video tutorials to their website to help grab their audiance attention.
