Remember Who You Are!Carl "J.C." Pantejo ![]() http://www.ynvurcepublishing.com (Author "My Friend Yu The Prosperity Mentor ," Copyright August 2007. Pantejo - Y.N. Vurce Publishing.) *Below is an excerpt from "My Friend Yu The Prosperity Mentor: Book II. Release Date: December 2007/January 2008. Pantejo - Y.N. Vurce Publishing. "This Above All: To Thine Ownself Be True" I could go into some arcane, long-winded, and pompous" diatribe discussion into the truth of that statement, BUT I WON'T. I know me. And boring you with words too long to pronounce in one breath, is not me! Instead, let me tell you why you need to remember who you are NOW. - Reminders - Mid-way through my military career, I would often have the good/bad fortune of being the senior man during military operations and civilian, social outings with my subordinates. In both situations, the easiest way to "get my people back in line" was to shout, "Marine! Maintain! Remember who you are!" Now that I am retired, it seems to me that this practice, this overt reminder of "who we are" is sorely needed especially when we put others or even worse, ourselves down (both in our deeds and in our thoughts). - You Are Unique Think of it. No one on Earth (or in the history of Mankind) has been or will be you. No one has the same DNA, fingerprints, or mind as you. You are truly special. This thought should be empowering to you. Ponder this. No one but you can employ your special talent(s) - and yes, everyone has a special talent. Even if it's a latent talent that just needs some honing to shine. No one but you has the same thoughts, aspirations - and unfortunately, idiosyncratic limitations too. I challenge you to assess yourself. What are your passions? What are your ambitions? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What are your secret fears? Come on. It's just you and me here. - Be Honest With Yourself - If you're in a monotonous 9 to 5 job, but would rather be in a more creative position; I challenge you to be honest with yourself AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If you're grudgingly sacrificing yourself for someone else (either due to conditioning or guilt); again, why not be honest with yourself? It will allow you to become aware, embrace, celebrate, and release the burden the dead weight - in your life, and finally enable you to respect and honor yourself fully, the way you deserve to be honored. While you're at it, do a full overhaul. Think about everything in your life. Everything is fair game. Nothing is far-fetched. For example, if you are finding it difficult to play the good-guy or good-girl role, or struggling to keep up the conservative husband or wife appearance because secretly you'd rather be making Porn Movies; you'd better be honest with yourself! You're true self will come out (of course, at the most inopportune times); or if suppressed, your true self will sabotage all your best efforts in everything you consider important. End result? More of the same: Crippling Anxiety and/or Misery. Why? Because you are divided, not whole. Period. - Confusing Yourself, Confusing The Universe - You're sending mixed signals. You're playing a push-me-pull-you game with your emotions and the Universe. And the Universe will respond in spades: One step forwards, then two steps back! This is fundamental stuff. If you can't find out EXACTLY what you're really about, you're operating from a false premise. Operating from erroneous, incomplete information is a recipe for a life of struggle and misery. You might be saying something like "Well, at least I'm running my life from a place that's ALMOST ME. That's close enough, right? It can't matter that much, can it?" Yes it can. Absolutely. - All Things Big AND Small - Everything matters, especially the beginning of anything. Look at CHAOS theory. The Universe operates on a "hyper-sensitivity to initial conditions" rule. A small change in the initial condition produces vastly different end results. A seemingly trivial decision or careless thought can propel you in exactly the opposite direction of your intended destination. The fluttering of a butterfly in one part of the world can cause a tsunami on the other side of the planet. Everything matters. Now let's get back to you and the pivotal role you take in engineering your own happiness. Remember, you are special. There is always something you can do that satisfies your inner passions AND ethically makes money at the same time. What is that thing? Think. Think hard! Again, I say "Remember who you are." Can you do that? - Who Are You, Really? - Think of your childhood. What was pure play for you? What made you lose track of time? What could you do for hours without complaining because it was so fun? What passions have you buried long ago because everyone else said it was a waste of time or would never "amount to anything." Really. When you connect with and/or reveal the thing that provides you with pure joy, you're on the right track toward happiness. Go ahead. Do it now. You'll be surprised how much happier your view of life becomes after you begin to realize that it's all about you, the true you. That's the real, best beginning. "Hey You! Maintain! Remember Who You Are!" - You Got The Ball Now. Run With It! - It's all up to you. I know that it's scary to really look at yourself. Believe me, I've been there. The only thing that got me through it was the understanding that all change is naturally uncomfortable. But "the initial pain always pales in comparison to the later, greater pleasure." Repeat that mantra whenever you get discouraged and feel yourself longing to go back to "comfortable, familiar misery." So, for the sake of you and your loved ones, I dare you to dare yourself And once this all important step is taken, the rest is much easier. It involves planning, doing, and DOING IT UNTIL IT'S DONE. Of course this is simple to say, but hard to do (and even harder to fully explain). Planning your daily activities, exploring the reasons why people procrastinate, and the reason why people fail; that is, why people stop doing what they're doing BEFORE IT'S DONE, is the lengthy topic of another article. About the Author: He is a retired U.S. Military veteran. Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an A.A., B.S., and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic. In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he free-fall parachuted out of airplanes and performed diving ops in very deep, open ocean water. He went to Thailand 1 year ago for a week's vacation, fell into a teaching job, and has never left! Carl "J.C." Pantejo Pantejo@ynvurcepublishing.com Founder, Y.N.
