Link Building - Think Of It As A Marathon And Not A Sprint

So you want to attract additional traffic to your website, you are confident that the site is well designed and has a professional clean look. All the content is unique and is of use and benefit to its target audience. You are aware that the site should gain backward links naturally via its powerful content but are eager to increase the number of links that are pointing to the site in order to gain a higher search engine ranking, but what is the best way to do this?

In my opinion the majority of webmasters have a short term vision when they attempt to promote their website. They are seeking virtually instant results and when they do not manage to achieve this they become disbondent and then lose their drive. As an example I have introduced many people into article marketing, after all it has worked very well for me. These people quickly understand the concept and feel that it is a great idea. They then spend the next two months writing articles and on average will write forty articles in this period. At this stage they comment that their website is not ranked as high in the search engines as they would have hoped and that they have not attracted the amount of additional traffic that they thought they would have.

So what happens next? Well they have not achieved the results that they had expected and are quickly losing interest. I would then attempt to talk them round by explaining the positive results that I have had via article marketing but guess what? Yes they stop writing articles.

So what would have had happened if they had continued to submit articles to the article directories for the next five or ten years? In my opinion they would be dominating their niche as long as they are also learning about other forms of website promotion and applying them.
