So You Want a New Rottweiler Puppy?

So you have decided to purchase a new Rottweiler puppy. Rottweiler puppies can be a wonderful addition to your family. Are you ready to bring your new puppy home? Puppies need a lot of stuff in order to grow properly and it's important that you have the right items to make your new puppy feel comfortable in your home. Here is a partial list of the things that you need to have before you bring your new puppy home:
Food Make sure that you buy the same type of food that the puppy is eating at the breeder's kennel. If you do decide to switch from that food do it very slowly so that your puppy doesn't get sick. You can plan on it taking at least a week to fully switch foods.
Bedding- Your puppy is going to want to sleep with you or the kids most of the time but a puppy needs its own bed too. Make sure that you get a bed that's big enough for the puppy to grow into. Put it in a place where it's near the family so that the puppy can be close to you.
A crate If you're going to crate train your Rottweiler puppy then you should have the crate and begin crate training as soon as you purchase the puppy. Remember that you should never put the puppy in the crate as a punishment. The crate should be a place where the puppy feels happy and secure.
A good vet Your puppy is going to need regular veterinary care starting right away. If you don't already have a vet that you like ask the breeder to recommend a vet that specializes in treating Rottweilers or ask your friends and family to recommend someone. Take your puppy to the vet after you pick the puppy up at the breeder's and have the puppy checked out to make sure it's healthy before you bring it home.
Room to run Rottweilers are active dogs that thrive in an environment where they can get plenty of exercise. If you don't have a lot of room for a dog to run or you are not able to talk the puppy to the dog park at least 3 times a week then a Rottweiler puppy might not be the right dog for you.
