Why Your Thoughts Produce Your FeelingsDale Pindling ![]() http://www.onlybehappy.com I am writing to convince you of a truth that is common sense but many are not aware of. Your thoughts produce your feelings. For example, think of if you were to apply to school , and for months you are on edge because you are anticipating this letter and you really desire to go to this school. One day you see that package in the mail, you lay hands on the package open it up slowly and unfortunately the letter says "sorry, you have not been accepted" What runs through your mind as a response to reading this letter? Once you actually interpret what this letter means, the feelings come in, and if you are a normal human being, you are not going to be feeling so well, maybe a feeling of disappointment or even sadness. If you were unable to understand what language the letter came in , you would have been spared the negative feelings. It just the fact that you were able to read and understand, or interpret the words : " sorry, you have not been accepted" that you began to feel bad. Or have you ever listened to a song that reminds and makes you think about a past relationship and you suddenly start to feel sad because of those thoughts? Or have you ever been in an argument where the other side said something terrible to you that just made you angrier than you were a second ago? What happened was that you heard it , interpreted it, and felt more anger inside of you.If there is no interpretation, no thought, then there is no feeling angry. Or if you have just had recent breakup (or a breakup period) , notice how when you think of that person, you feel start to feel many of the feelings you have had with this person in the past. Now think about any failure that you have had in your life, notice that you will start to feel bad after thinking about this incident for a short while. The natural fact is that you must think and interpret something with your mind in order to feel some sort of emotion or feeling. Sounds simple doesn't it, so why do most people struggle with feelings their whole life? Why are people driven to do such extreme things in response to emotion? Shouldn't it be so simple for an individual to just easily change what they are thinking about? There are two main reasons as to why it is not easy simple for most people to take control over their mind and their feelings. 1)As we have concluded, you feel emotions after you interpret something, however this interpretation is either conscious or unconscious which is why many people are not aware of this truth.Sometimes you will think things and not even be aware that you are thinking them. For example, you know those times when you just feel angry for no apparent reason, or a thought just hits you out of thin air, well that is unconscious thought. 2)The mind is like a mesh. As you know a mesh will only allow things that can fit inside the holes of the mesh through. This is why sometimes you might only get certain size of flies in your house during the summer, but you won't get others. Well the same can be said for the mind, because the mind only allows certain thoughts through, leaving all other thoughts to be rejected.Only things that are presented in a particular fashion can get through to your mind unless you are able to take total control your mind. If it were not so then you would remember every single thing that has happened to you ever!
