Tips for Booking Hotels in Pattaya

I have to admit that at the present time, one of the most popular ways of booking a hotel is through the internet. You can find hotel accommodation all over the world by only using your fingertips. Apart from the sheer convenience, this method also gets you a very cheap rate due to the nature of this very competitive market. There are a lot of websites that you can visit, and they are all offering different accommodation rates.
Booking a hotel online for major cities is quite easy because it seems that all the websites offer complete details of the accommodation such as location, facilities, prices and how to get to the hotel. Moreover, some websites also give price comparisons for users to compare the prices of hotels of the same category, and to compare the prices of hotels in the same location. This is very useful for travelers who want to plan a budget trip. Unfortunately, this can only be done when searching for information about the major cities, because there is so much information available about them online.
There are some smaller cities that do have famous tourist attractions, yet it is almost impossible to get such abundant information about these places when you use online hotel booking. From my own experience, I found that it is actually quite hard to find enough information to do a comparison, and that I end up missing very important information.
I would like to give an example of when I went to Pattaya. It is a very small city in Thailand, located on the east coast. Even though this place is small, it has a very strong reputation and is quite well-known, in terms of being a good place to live, and in terms of being a great tourist city. I went there last year to practice Muay Thai (Thai boxing) at Fairtex Gym.
Before I went, I looked for information all over the internet in terms of places to go and hotel accommodation. The gym actually has in-house accommodation for Muay Thai students but unfortunately this was full for the period I wanted to go, so I started to find out more about the accommodation nearby.
I finally got some cheap accommodation that appeared to be close to the gym by getting information from the internet. The website only provided me with the name and the price of the accommodation, as well as some pictures of the room. At that time, I have to admit that I really had no choice because the in-house accommodation of the gym was full. So I booked that hotel on the internet.
When I arrived at the hotel, I found it to be quite disappointing. It was quite far away from the gym, meaning that I had to take a taxi there which cost me a lot of money. Apart from that, the hotel room was not exactly the same as I saw in the picture. However, I had already arrived, and so it seemed to be a bit too late for me to change anything.
This was a great lesson that I learnt, that even though there are millions of online hotel booking websites providing complete details for hotels in major and popular cities, for smaller places you have to ensure that you have got enough information before you go.
