Tulum in SeptemberFern Venns ![]() Tulum in September and October is a really special time of year. I suppose because all the schools are back, and the European vacation month of August is over, Tulum becomes empty, like a ghost town of sorts. It is a hot (mid 90's F) and humid time of year and of course it is in the middle of hurricane season. But despite all that, it is also a very beautiful time of year. The beaches are empty and often the ocean is calm, like a huge turquoise swimming pool. You can walk for miles on the beach and literally see no one else. The hotels are all relatively slow and offer accommodation specials that are maybe 40% off high season prices. In the Tulum township visitors won't have to wait for tables ever in these quiet months. And one of the best things about September and October is the hatching of all the baby turtles. Tulum has become a destination for turtle lovers around the globe, and every night along the Tulum beaches you can see baby turtles waddling their way down to the sea. So, if you have a spare long weekend or can take off a week or two at this time of year, then check first to make sure no hurricanes are brewing, then come on down to Tulum. It is our favorite time of the year to be on the beach!
