Star of David Pendant Inspiration From the Past That Protects Us Today

Historical figures always serve as inspiration to others that follow them. No matter if their legacy and inspiration is passed down to the generations to come in form of written or told stories, engravings on walls, monuments risen in their memory or small items that relate to them, they always have the greatest effect and they can lead to various beliefs.
There are lots of legends that can depict one's behavior and distinguish right from wrong. For example, in Britain, the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table inspires people to live as equals. The legend of Alexander the Great and the Gordian knot is meant to determine people to be bold and swift regarding whatever problems they may have.
The truth of the matter is that people in ancient times were capable of doing great things. Their actions have led to the development of many stories that became legends, which in turn inspired the people that believed in them to live a better life, guided by well defined principles and with righteous beliefs.
I mentioned afore that their legacy can also be transmitted trough objects. An eloquent example for this would be the story of King David. You all know the story of David a young man that defeated the giant Goliath with a single stone-throw from his improvised slingshot.
As a king, David was known for his righteousness, love for music and poetry, but also for his many acclaimed victories in battle. His symbol, the six-pointed Star of David is now representative for Jewish culture and all of its followers.
Jewish people around the world have been wearing a Star of David pendant around their necks for a long time now. It is believed to have started when the Nazis started to obligate the Jews to wear this distinctive sign in order to be recognized, but proofs of its prior existence and significance has been found going back to the Middle Ages.
Some beliefs state that King David wore this symbol on his shield when he went to battle. Given his many successes on the battlefield without being harmed, a Star of David pendant serves as a great symbol for protection to all Jewish believers.
Symbols of protection can be found in lots of cultures. Christians wear the cross around their necks because they believe it can keep them out of harm's way. A Star of David pendant is as popular among Jewish people as the cross is for Christians.
The Star of David pendant is also regarded as a symbol for the creation of the world. The six days of creation the corners and the seventh day of rest the center are encompassed in this symbol that can also be found on the flag of Israel.
There are many cultures around the world that have taken symbols associated with great historical figures and turned them into something that others can use and enjoy. A Star of David pendant is one of the most popular proofs that religion, faith and unique design can be encompassed into a small item that can change a person's life.
The great thing about people is that they can find inspiration everywhere. The Star of David pendant stand as statement that our past can serve as the best source of inspiration for our current beliefs.
