Do You Really Know How To Use An Exe E-book Compiler
Ken Trueman ![]() ![]() Ken Trueman http://www.e-bookslive.com Although Exe E-book compilers seem to be waning in popularity, most people preferring to use Pdf, quite a few Marketeers still use them. Newcomers to the Internet Marketing scene may find them rather complicated and difficult to get their heads around. The reality is that they are quite easy to use, if you stick to a few basic rules. 1. Remember that each page is just a html page, which you can scroll with your browser, just like any Internet page. 2. Preparation of your files before you start writing your e-book is very important. 3. You don't need server technology to make the e-book work, but your reader needs server technology to be able to follow the links you created in your e- book. 4. Complicated html editors are not required, if you aren't used to using them they will only confuse the issue. 5. It's fairly straightforward to set the security in most exe e-books. Most compilers have a series of Tabs which you can use in sequence, this takes you through the compiling process step by step, and is self explanatory really. Firstly though, preparation is of paramount importance. To write any e-book you first need to make a draft of your chapters. 1. Choose your subject, this will be your title. 2. Make a list of the points you wish to cover, these will be your chapters. 3. Physically write each chapter into a separate Notepad file and save them in one place, so you can find them later. Don't be tempted to write them in Word, when you copy them later Word will insert things into them that will show up on your html pages. 4. You will need graphics for your e-book, make sure that you have them all prepared, including Header and Footer. Create a Folder on your Desktop and name the Folder "My New E-book", or whatever you like,it doesn't matter. Open the Folder you just created and copy and paste all the graphics for your e-book directly into it. Writing the html pages is reasonably easy. Use an html editor such as Sea Monkey or Nvu (both free). Open the html editor and construct a blank html web page, include your Header and Footer graphics and any other Tables and Static links such as Navigation elements. Save the page you have created into the "My New E-book" Folder as "index.html" (without the quotes). Make a note of how many chapters you have created in Notepad. Open the "My New E-book" Folder, highlight the "index.html" file, right click and choose "copy". In a open space in the "My New E-book" Folder, right click and choose "paste". Do this for as many chapters as you have. You will now have all the graphics and several html pages in your Folder. We now need to rename the copied html files to our chapter names. You should now have Several html files named after your chapters and one " index.html" file. Open each html file in turn, then copy and paste the relevant Notepad file into the html page for each chapter. Doing it this way ensures that all the html pages are exactly the same, when you browse through the e-book you will not see any difference in the Headers or Navigation elements. If you forgot graphics you can add them later, remember that everything must be in the same Folder. Open the exe compiler and you will find a Tab that enables you to import the folder "My New E-book" into the compiler. Browse until you find the file and then click on the import Tab. Some compilers allow you to drag and drop the files from your Desktop to the compiler. You should have the opportunity to select the file which opens first, choose the "index.html" file. If this opportunity does not present itself, make sure that the "index.html" file is right at the top of the file list in the compiler. Follow the instructions in the compiler for the other Tabs including the security. I find it easier to compile a test e-book first without any security, you can always re-compile later when you have checked your work. Click on "Compile" and choose a name for your e-book and a place to save to. Click on save, most compilers will have a radio button you can place a tick in that will enable you to see the-book immediately after it has been compiled. If not, browse to where you saved to and open the e-book to check it out. Make any changes you wish and re-compile. Zip the e-book and start selling. http://www.kentrueman.com
