Do You Get The Whole Blogging Concept?Brenda Franzo ![]() Crazy Foxes Marketing Group Blogging is a concept that actually started in late 1990s. It originally was a way for interested readers to comment on sites, to react and voice an opinion about the site. It was also a way for people to keep an online journal, writing about whatever hobbies or interests they had. It has now evolved into pages and pages of personal comments on basically everthing under the sun and has also become am important tool in marketing your business or products online. Why? **Blogging is free! You can set up a blog on sites like Blogger or Wordpress and start blogging within a matter of minutes. There's no need to have a blog hosted, especially when first starting out. Many don't see blogging as a mainstream online advertising media yet, and most see it as something to support their current marketing tools, which I feel is the reason it is still free. And any advertising tool that is free is definitely a bonus especially to home based businesses that are starting up. Needless to say though, as your business is seriously growing, it will be time to consider paying to have your blogs hosted, etc. which in turn will generate you more income. **Blogging is simple. Blogging is an easy way to get your information out there on the internet. No serious skills are necessary. If you can read and type, and at least click the mouse, blogging can be done. It's like having a virtual piece of paper in front of you where you write about yourself, your experiences, new products, and new services. Your articles or posts should be written honestly and attract your readers to try your product or check out your service. If you have a computer and an internet connection, you can blog and advertise. **Blogging builds credibility. Blogging can help you brand yourself. As you get more and more into writing about your experiences on a particular product or service, your readers will come to understand that they can depend on your posts. And because of this, you become an expert on it. Then, as more readers visit your site and more bloggers link to your blogs, that's all the more exposure for you and your products. **Blogging is real. In this day and age where advertising saturates our daily lives, we are always questioning the credibility of promoters' claims. However, in blogs, real people are sharing their real-life experiences, not blatant advertising. Reading blogs about first-hand product use is like talking to people about their first-hand experience. So before blogging about a product or service, you definitely want to have tried and tested the same. **Blogging builds your market. Unless you are truly famous, chances are, only your friends will be reading your posts at first. But, they have friends, so they will let their friends know you have something of interest on your blog, etc... But you don't even need to depend on that to increase your readership - Look into the following ways to build your market through blogging: -Understanding your readers. Ask your readers to give constructive feedback on your blog, your posts and what you have shared. You will then learn what they are interested in and can post accordingly. -Use email. Today, blogging is overcoming even email popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market. Let your readers know about your blog by sending out a short e-mail message referring them to your blog. Include your blog link in your email signature as well. -Use subscription opt-in. Give all your readers the opportunity to subscribe to your blog. Let them know that some of your information will be exclusive to them just for subscribing. Here, you get their information, building your market and your list. -Join blogging network. There are many networks of blogs out there, blog sites that share the same industry, interest, readership base, etc. MyBlogLog, Technorati and Blog Catalog to name a few. Reach out, join communities within these networks. Get noticed. -Using RSS Feed. RSS feed is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today. As such, having RSS feeds to your blog is definitely another means of generating awareness for your readership base. Plus it provides all sorts of backlinks and search engine optimization, but that is for another article. Give your business a boost by effectively using blogging as a home based business marketing tool.
