Importance of Content for a Website and Why Top Priority should be given to it.

Most experienced webmasters know that "Content is King." There are yet quite a few of the  experienced ones and those who are new to the Internet or Internet Marketing who are quite ignorant of this or simply don't seem to place sufficient significance or importance to Content. Great importance and prominence is given to advertisements and the display of images while content appears to be ignored.

The very success of an online business depends on the number of targeted visitors the website is able to attract. There are various strategies of course to attract visitors to your website but once they are at your site, it is your content that should grab the attention of the visitor. It is the quality of the content that will persuade the visitor to stay for a longer period of time and possibly bookmark your site to return later.

Search Engines love quality and unique content and will visit your site regularly and your website will begin to appear in the search results. On the other hand if you stop updating the content the search engines will gradually ignore you and ultimately stop visiting you.

Having good content is one thing but ensuring that your website appears high in the Search Engine results when people search for your products and services is a different kettle of fish altogether. To make this happen you have to choose the right keywords or phrases related to your website and which searchers will use to search for your products.

The importance of content that is of quality and unique is that, other websites will want to link to your website thus providing their visitors with a good website experience. You will thus be rewarded with several one-way inbound links that will increase your link popularity, page rank and also bring you a regular stream of visitors.

There are special SEO strategies that you should adopt such as placing your keywords in the title of the page in H1 tag, having sub-titles with keywords in them and placing your keywords or phrases judiciously in the content.
Don't be too enthusiastic and place too many keywords in your content pages. Search Engines consider this as keyword stuffing and could penalize your website. Anything between 3% to 5% of the content of the page is generally acceptable.
