When the" I'm depressed" feelings comes there is often a guilt that accompanies the down mood. This is due to the fact that feeling sad often does bring you guilt. You are told to be happy and happiness is what we seek in this life, so to not be happy can start blaming yourself. The depressed person often blames himself or herself for the depression; they wonder why they cannot just feel good. Sometimes it feels like you are fighting yourself to feel good.
If you are blaming yourself and you are depressed you may think will power can stop depression and your feeling this way. Depressed people are in an inner war with themselves and this battle does spread to their love ones. Depressed people can have a difficult time maintaining relationships, the strain of trying to be happy can eventually wear down a depressed persons relationship. The partner of a depressed person will have to have a lot of compassion and patience because there can be many down times that the relationship must endure. One of the ways to begin losing the guilt is to recognize that you did not cause depression; in fact it has robbed you. You are a victim of the illness not the cause of the illness. Your guilt can also be due to seeing others brought down by your depressed, so you take the blame. "I'm depressed usually means others close to you will also experience some of your depression.
This is when guilt can grow, when the relationships suffer due to the depressed person.
It is important for the person battling depression to not blame themselves for the illness. Depression affects millions of people everyday, there are many people on anti depressants and depression is the most popular disability worldwide. Many things have contributed to your depression but there is a cure. It does not involve and medication or doctors.
