Building Your Business With Email Opt-in-part 3

by Mike Saunders

Building your opt-in mailing list is cheaper than in sending direct mails. (part 3)

This is the third installment of the series on Building Your Business with Opt-in Email and in part 3 today we cover how to build your list and some easy ways to get people on your list.

Since youve completed the Action Plan in the previous 2 articles (right?!) You now have your Compelling Offer and a series of followup messages created.

Here are some ways to effectively start your opt-in mailing list:

1. Free Newsletter. One of the most effective ways to build an opt-in list is to offer your online visitors freebies of value such as newsletter which will contain information that they can relate to such as tips, tools, recipes, travel itineraries and others. If you own a brick and mortar store, you will want to create a flyer next to the cash register that directs people to your website (or landing page if you dont have a website). You may just say Would you like to get on our Priority Club List where we send out exclusive coupons and sale notifications that we dont advertise to the public?

2. Make it Easy to Subscribe. Provide easy steps for subscription so that subscribers may find it simple to do so and would not be too cumbersome. For more subscribers, tell them the exact benefits they can get out of the subscription.and if you use an autoresponder service just tell your readers Send a blank email to: marketinghuddle@aweber.com (of course youll want to set up your own, but I wanted to show you what it would look like). When the autoresponder service gets that blank email it automatically adds them to your list! (this is a method you can use even if you dont have a website OR landing page! NOTE If you do have a website we can show you a couple of easy ways to get a sign in box on there to encourage people to join. You can go to my site to see an example.

3. Quality Content. Be sure that what is written inside the newsletter, freebies and information found in your website are all of value to increase visitors dropping by your website.make sure to speak to their need.and when all else fails, ask your list what they need to learn!! Remember to educate people on your products and servicesget so detailed with the level of educating them that you wonder if anyone even needs to know that much about it! The reason is that they DONT need to know that much info.but if you are giving it to them they see you as a trusted resource. So who do you think they buy from when they are ready.

4. Forums. Discussion boards and forums are all over the net. Try to actively participate in these boards especially those in the line of your interest or your business. Try to build your reputation with credibility.and just a note, do not ever solicit for your business until you have given sufficient value to the board!

5. Write articles. This makes you an instant expert in your chosen field of interest. You just have to play on it and use it well in your business goal.

6. Co-registration. A very effective way to build a monster list in a very short time.. This is contacting someone else whos target is the same as yours, but they sell a different product and ask them to do a joint venture mailing to their list!

7. Write an e-book. An excellent freebie for those who visited and subscribe in your mailing list. The e-book does not have to be expensively made or elaborate but it can be a compilation or a collection of best articles, business tips and resources.and make sure to have all your website/blog/email contact information at the beginning and end so it can be a sales letter

In building opt-in mailing lists always keep in mind to offer something of value to your prospects. Remember opt-in lists are the foundations of most profitable internet business so do not miss chances for improvement and developing new strategies.

ACTION PLAN:

1) Set up an email autoresponder account. Go to Famee.org and click the Store tab to see our recommendations.

2) Go back through your email follow up series and make sure you insert a few relevant links to helpful websites about critical information on your industry to help deepen the content. Make sure you have a minimum of 12 followup messages ready.
